Orange Botswana and TEMCO Sign Digital Healthcare Partnership

Orange Botswana and TEMCO signed a memorandum of understanding at Orange head office in Gaborone on 28 September 2026. It is the first corporate agreement the project has concluded.

The memorandum makes Orange Botswana the preferred connectivity provider to the TEMCO hospital development ecosystem: the planned 130-bed specialised hospital, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and hospitality and recovery facilities at the Gaborone Airport Special Economic Zone.

What Orange provides reaches beyond the hospital building. The memorandum covers connectivity and ICT for hospital and pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, including secure data management, telemedicine, digital health records and digital payment solutions, and it extends across the wider zone to smart infrastructure, utilities monitoring and digital services for the enterprises operating there.

Orange Botswana CEO Nene Maiga said the partnership demonstrates the role of technology in transforming healthcare delivery.

"This partnership brings together healthcare and technology to create a more connected and efficient patient experience. Our role is to provide the digital infrastructure that will support TEMCO's vision of delivering specialised healthcare."

Maiga said the project also presents an opportunity to position Botswana as a regional healthcare destination.

"TEMCO has regional ambitions, and Orange is proud to support that ambition. Reliable connectivity will be critical in enabling the hospital to serve patients from Botswana and across southern Africa."

Announcing the agreement publicly, Orange Botswana said the day marked "an important step towards a more connected future for healthcare in Botswana".

TEMCO is a National Development Plan 12 project licensed by the Special Economic Zones Authority. Signing for TEMCO was Sailas Temwa, Chairman and Project Lead, with Ms N Segofalang and Mr Thabang Rapelana as witnesses.

The hospital is planned to open in 2029, and every service it will hold is planned.
