Opening 2029
Centres of Excellence
Four specialised clinical centres delivering services not currently available in Botswana.
Closing the Specialised-Care Gap
Botswana's public and private healthcare systems provide strong primary and secondary care. However, tertiary specialised services — oncology radiation, interventional cardiology, robotic surgery and high-volume dialysis — remain unavailable in-country. TEMCO's four Centres of Excellence are designed to fill this gap, keeping patients at home and repatriating the hundreds of millions of pula in annual medical outflow.
Advanced Oncology
Botswana's existing radiation oncology capacity is constrained, with documented wait times driving continuing outbound travel to South Africa and India. TEMCO's oncology centre is designed to add resilient capacity closer to patients.
Reducing wait times, keeping patients closer to home, and providing a local reference point for regional cancer care. Detailed capability architecture shared with qualified investors on inquiry.
Planned Services
- Radiation oncology — planned
- Medical oncology and chemotherapy — planned
- Surgical oncology — planned
- Integrated multidisciplinary oncology team — planned
Cardiovascular Institute
Cardiovascular care capacity in Botswana is volume-capped. TEMCO's cardiovascular institute is designed to expand access across the continuum from diagnostics to complex interventional and surgical care.
Expands the domestic cardiovascular continuum and reduces referral leakage to South Africa and India. Detailed procedure set shared with qualified investors on inquiry.
Planned Services
- Interventional cardiology — planned
- Cardiac catheterisation — planned
- Open-heart surgery — planned
- Non-invasive cardiac imaging and stress testing — planned
Robotic and Neurosurgery
TEMCO introduces robotic-assisted surgery and expands complex-case neurosurgical capacity as part of the specialised tertiary offering.
Shorter stays, reduced complications and faster recovery for patients who currently travel abroad for advanced minimally invasive procedures.
Planned Services
- Robotic-assisted surgical platform — planned
- Complex neurosurgery — planned
- Minimally invasive surgical techniques — planned
- Intraoperative imaging and navigation — planned
Trauma, Orthopaedics and Dialysis
Botswana faces growing demand for dialysis and specialised orthopaedic care. TEMCO is designed to add meaningful capacity across trauma, orthopaedics and renal replacement therapy.
Reduces the backlog of patients awaiting renal replacement therapy, while the trauma unit serves the airport and greater Gaborone catchment.
Planned Services
- 24-hour trauma and emergency care — planned
- Orthopaedic surgery — planned
- Dialysis unit — planned
- Rehabilitation and physiotherapy support — planned
Supporting Services
Integrated clinical support services that underpin the four Centres of Excellence.
Accident and Emergency
A fully equipped A&E department serving the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport precinct and greater Gaborone, with triage, resuscitation and stabilisation capabilities.
Opening 2029Outpatient Consultations
Specialist outpatient clinics across all four centres of excellence, offering consultations, diagnostics and follow-up care without hospital admission.
Opening 2029Pharmacy
In-hospital dispensary providing prescribed medications, with integration into TEMCO’s clinical information system for medication safety and inventory management.
Opening 2029Operating Theatres
Multiple operating theatres supporting surgical services across oncology, cardiovascular, robotic, neurosurgery and orthopaedic disciplines.
Opening 2029JCI Accreditation Pathway
TEMCO is pursuing Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation — the recognised global standard for healthcare quality and patient safety. If achieved, TEMCO would be the first JCI-accredited facility in Botswana. The accreditation pathway is embedded in the clinical design from day one, not retrofitted after opening.
Clinical Partner: Advance Medical Africa
Advance Medical Africa, based in South Africa and Zimbabwe, serves as TEMCO's clinical operations partner. They provide clinical protocols, staffing pipelines and training integration — ensuring that TEMCO's clinical services meet international standards from the first day of operations.
